Reflecting on getting older, I might ponder here for a bit since I might forget something.

As I am now seventy-six, going on twenty-five, I have been thinking, or pondering, as I say. I started writing my daily sojourns nearly twenty-five years ago. I first used a YAHOO group, then Myspace, and graduated to WordPress and Facebook. I woke up today, perhaps the dreary weather is making my arthritis act up, stiff and out of sorts. The miracle of technology provided me with a boost this morning when I texted all my grandkids a picture of a wild tom turkey strutting around in the nearby field. I try to text every morning a photo and have a great day to all of my phone-carrying grandchildren,

I enjoy reading and using Ralph Waldo Emerson in my writing; perhaps I am an existentialist. I try to encourage all my students, from elementary school through college, and teachers I now work with, to read and write as much as they can.

“Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

So, while my day is changing as I write, my plans today are simple: I already took my wife’s car to the body shop, picked up the rental, had delicious sushi for lunch, took a really short nap, read, and prepared a bit for a college course I am taking. I will write some on a chapter I am writing for a possible Foxfire book and spend time with my wife. I have a feeling we are going to dinner after my granddaughter’s soccer game. I truly want to thank everyone who has sent good vibes over the past few days. I seriously needed them. May you all have a blessed and peaceful day. Please keep all in harm’s way on your mind and in your heart, and be sure always to give thanks, namaste.

My family and friends, I do not say this lightly,

PS. Looking back, it has been an interesting life. I have so many fond memories of all the things I recalled while out driving around this morning, and of slot car racing back when I was about 13 or so. That had not come up for some time. Memories are precious; if only we could save them the way we save photos on a hard drive.
